Back to the Basics

This a collection of all my practice sketches today. I figured I'd take a step back and practice basic mannequin poses. I think I'm gonna try and do a lot of these. A few of the poses were straight out of a How to Draw Anime book and the rest were me drawing poses I found characters in from comic books I have.

The mannequin design I use is based on a few different designs I saw in art books with an added touch or two that make more sense to me like ab lines and such.

The Last of the Airbenders

What can I say. I drew Aang, the last of the Airbenders. Nuff' Said. Momo inspired me to do some more Avatar art.

Mo Momo, Mo Problems

Wow, two sketches in one night. I think I might have broken a personal record, lol. Also, I think I themed tonight with cute furry creatures. I couldn't help it though. After making Gizmo I had to give Momo some space as well.

Oh Avatar, how I am addicted to you . . .

Gizmo!

This is my first real sketch I've done recently for the sake of just sketching. Most of my art these days is for cash or a deadline or something similar. I'm hoping this is the start of me doing more sketches in the hopes of getting more skillful in my artcraftery(it's a word, I swear).

Lost in a Portrait

Well it looks like this is going to be my new place to post my artwork in a journal-esque fashion. I used MySpace there for a bit but I felt that my artwork did not fit well with my ramblings, philosophies, and personal feelings. So this is my way of correcting that.

Well with that said I feel I'll finish this with lyrics to the song after which my Blog has been named.

"Lost in a Portrait" - Trapt

"I analyze everything, I know what you mean
I answer by questioning all that I need
And I want you to, to surrender
I want you to see all the sides
All the faces inside of me

I see I'm not perfect, but that's all I see
Lost in a portrait, in a picture of me
This can't be everything I see
That my canvas is incomplete
Your color's everything to me
And my canvas will set me free

My outline is solid and made up of crime
And the things that you say just burn in my eyes
I want to, to surrender
I want you to find some comfort
In the spaces between the lines

I see I'm not perfect, but that's all I see
Lost in a portrait, in a picture of me
This can't be everything I see
That my canvas is incomplete
Your color's everything to me
And my canvas will set me free
This can't be everything I see
That my canvas is incomplete
Your color's everything to me

This can't be everything I see
That my canvas is incomplete
Your color's everything to me
And my canvas will set me free
This can't be everything I see
That my canvas is incomplete
Your color's everything to me
You're everything to me . . ."

-It fits me well
